How to Pack for a Winter Break
The way you should pack for a winter break differs a lot to when you have a summer holiday as all of the clothing and shoes you will need will be far more bulky than those you would need for a week on the beach.
Here we share our tips on how to pack for a winter break which we hope you will find useful wherever you're heading!
A hat and gloves
Although big woolly hats and gloves may seem like the best option when heading somewhere cold, you will actually be warmer if you choose thin, high quality options which will not only help you to retain heat but will take up little room in your luggage too.
Your hat will be most practical if it covers your ears and the back of your neck, and waterproof gloves are a must if you'll be exploring in the snow.
Sturdy shoes
These days it is possible to find sturdy shoes that will not only keep your feet warm and dry but look smart enough to wear out in the evenings too. Don't be afraid to choose something bulky as you will be able to wear them to and from the airport so they won't need to go into your luggage.
Just remember that you will need to take them off at airport security so don't tie them too tightly or this could be more inconvenient than necessary.
Light layers
The best way to stay warm during your winter break is to pack light layers which will trap heat between them and keep you warm. A couple of cotton tops, a fleece and a weatherproof jacket should be enough to keep you cosy but not so hot that you melt every time you spend time indoors, plus you don't want to layer up so much that you can't move your arms!
