Europe offers so many different holiday destination options that is can feel easier to head to somewhere that you have heard lots about and will know exactly what to expect.
However, discovering new places is one of the most fun parts of travelling and the more unknown towns and cities provide a better representation of the country you are visiting than the more touristy spots.
With this in mind, here are three of Europe’s hidden gems that you might want to consider the next time you're searching for a holiday.
Piran - Slovenia
Located on the Adriatic Coast, Piran has earned itself the nickname ‘the Venice of Slovenia’ and offers visitors a combination of relaxing beaches, views of vineyards and olive groves, and a variety of impressive architecture to admire, including their famous white houses with red rooftops.
Piran can be reached in just one and a half hours by car from Solvenia’s capital, Ljubljana, and offers a more chilled out option that the more well-known Adrianic cities.
Loire Valley - France
The Loire Valley can be found on the border of northern and southern France just one hours train ride away from Paris, and boasts plenty of chateaus, aristocratic estates, and vineyards which give it a very luxurious feel.
No matter which wine is your favourite you will find it here are the Loire Valley supplies white, red, and rose, and you'll find that there is an excellent rail network and cycle routes so you won't need to worry about driving after enjoying a wine tasting session.
Berat - Albania
A UNESCO listed town with plenty to offer its visitors, Berat has both an old and a new town which each have a different feel and atmosphere making this an exciting place to explore.
With a great variation in architecture, a plaza along the waterway in the new town, and plenty of opportunities to sit with a beer and some traditional food while you watch the world go by, Berat is just a 2 hour drive from Tirana which makes it easy to get to if this is where you are flying into.
