Ways to keep fit while on holiday

Holidays offer time to relax and unwind, but if you’re worried about how to keep fit while on holiday, you’ll be happy to know that there are ways to do this without having to hold back on indulging!

Explore by foot

Simply walking every day is a great way to keep fit while on holiday, and with a new place to explore it should be easy to find new places to go. It is far more motivating to walk when there’s plenty around to distract you, or if you have a goal in mind, so try to find somewhere different to wander each day. If you like to run, you might prefer to put on your gym gear and explore at a faster pace. It’s advisable to go out first thing in the morning, or in the evening, if you’re visiting somewhere hot, as running in higher temperatures can be an uncomfortable experience.

Make use of the pool

Should your accommodation have a swimming pool, taking a dip and doing a number of lengths each day is great exercise, and you’ll barely realise you’re doing it when you can enjoy the sun on your face. You could even challenge yourself to complete more lengths each day, especially on those days when you’re simply relaxing around the pool anyway. Just don’t forget to drink plenty of water afterwards, as although swimming doesn’t always make you fell worn out, it can cause you to feel dehydrated.

Everything in moderation

Holidays are a time for indulging, especially if you’ve chosen an all-inclusive option, so holding back on what you eat and drink can be difficult. However, as long as you enjoy everything in moderation you’ll find that you continue to feel fit and healthy, even if you’re eating more often than you do at home. You might like to choose a healthy breakfast one day and then treat yourself to a dessert in the evening, as long as everything is balanced you’ll ensure you stay feeling great.
