How to take Great Holiday Photos

Taking holiday photos is a great way to capture memories that you can look back on once your trip is over. Although you want to make sure that you are in the moment as much as possible, making time to take snaps of some of your favourite sights means that you’ll never forget the fun you had and the things you saw.

Here, we share some tips on how to take great holiday photos which we hope will help you to create amazing photo albums, or a fantastic Instagram feed.

1. Look for something different – More often than not there will be places in your holiday destination that are captured on camera all the time. It is great to take photos in these popular spots, but looking for something different to take a photo of can be the best way to have a unique experience.

2. Use burst mode – Using your phone or camera’s burst mode means that it will take lots of photos in quick succession. This will give you plenty of options to choose from, and you might find that you have captured something that you weren’t expecting!

3. Place the subject off-centre – When taking photos, place the subject of the snap off-centre so that it takes up around a third of the photograph. This will draw the eye to your subject and make more of the background visible.

4. Try different angles – This is especially important when taking photos of people, as you can capture expressions and shapes that you may not usually see. Try taking some photos from a high angle and some from lower down and compare them to see which works best.

5. Look for details – If you see a stunning building you will probably want to take a photo of the whole thing, but don’t forget to zoom in on the little details too. Many places of interest have intricate detailing that you might not notice at first, so ensure that you always take a closer look through the lens.

We hope that these tips help you to take great holiday photos on your next break, and that you can take home snaps that you are really proud of.
