Things to do in Oslo

Oslo, Norway’s wonderful capital city, is a great place to visit if you want to see and experience things that you just won’t find elsewhere. Here, we share some of the best things to do in Oslo during your holiday.

Visit the Viking Ship Museum

The Viking Ship Museum is an absolute must-visit as it is home to lots of fascinating artefacts that you just won’t see anywhere else. Whether you know a lot about the Vikings already, or have little knowledge about them, you’re sure to learn something during your time here.

See items collected from four different burial sites around the Oslo fjord, including 9th century burial ship, Oseberg. This ship was wonderfully preserved due to being coated in mud which kept it protected from both air and water, so you’ll get an amazing insight into what it looked like when it was sailing the seas.

Wander around Frogner Park

As the largest park in central Oslo, Frogner Park has plenty to offer those who visit. One of the park’s top attractions is the Vigeland Sculpture Park which boasts 212 bronze and granite sculptures created by realist sculptor Gustav Vigeland, including popular installations ‘The Angry Boy’ and ‘The Wheel of Life’.

During the summer, have fun splashing around in Frognerbadet, the park’s outdoor pool complex. With two 50m swimming pools and a children’s pool on offer, this truly is the best way to cool off on a hot day.

Discover Aker Brygge Wharf

Originally a shipyard until 1982, Aker Brygge Wharf is a great place to enjoy the sunshine due to its 2500 al fresco seats which you’ll find outside a number of great bars and restaurants. No matter if you fancy gourmet Norwegian food or a classic burger, you’ll find something you like here!

Due to its unique combination of original factory buildings and warehouses, this is a fascinating place to discover, and you may be lucky enough to experience one of the pop-up events or concerts that are held here during your visit.
