Must-see filming locations in New York
There are so many amazing things to see during a holiday to New York, including the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, and the Rockefeller Centre, but have you ever thought about hunting out scene from your favourite films?
Here, we share three filming locations in New York that are worth a visit during your break.
Tiffany & Co. – Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Anyone who has seen popular film Breakfast at Tiffany’s will know that the famous, luxury jewellery store, Tiffany & Co. plays an important part, especially in the opening scene. The film begins with Holly Golightly, played by Audrey Hepburn, having breakfast outside the company’s flagship store, which can be found on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street.
The building itself, which was built in 1940, is almost as impressive as the jewellery inside. Its 24 foot high ceiling was a hit due to the fact it isn’t supported by columns, and it was the first commercial building in New York to have air conditioning.
Café Lalo – You’ve Got Mail
Famed for its role in You’ve Got Mail, Café Lalo is easily recognisable due to its floor to ceiling French windows, and open atmosphere. Located on West 83rd Street, this café serves over 100 different types of cake, cheesecake, pies, and tarts, and is popular with locals and tourists alike due to its late opening hours. This makes it a great place to head before or after a cinema or theatre trip. Plus, you can enjoy some jazz and classical music while you eat and drink.
American Museum of Natural History – Night at the Museum
The American Museum of Natural History saw a rise in visitors following the release of Night at the Museum, as kids and adults alike flocked to see the exhibits that inspired the film’s best-loved characters, including Rex and Dexter!
The museum can be found at 200 Central Park West, and is the perfect place to stop off at after a wonder through the city’s famous park.
