Things to pack in your hand luggage

Whether you have flown before or are off on your first holiday abroad, deciding what to pack into your hand luggage can be a difficult task! Here we share what we believe are the top items to include when you get around to packing your carry-on.

Warm clothing

There is no guessing what temperature a plane will be during your flight, and it is possible that the temperature will change throughout your journey anyway, so choosing what to wear can be difficult! One of the best ways to get around this is to wear layers and then pack some extra warm clothing in your hand luggage. We suggest a jumper and cosy socks, especially if your flight is quite a long one.

Entertainment

There’s nothing worse than being stuck on a plane with nothing to do, as the time is very likely to drag. Packing a range of entertainment into your hand luggage is a good way to overcome this, even if your flight offers on-board entertainment. Download TV shows or films to your phone, tablet, or laptop before the flight, pack a book or magazine, and perhaps bring a pack of cards or travel game to get the holiday off to a fun start.

Toiletries

If you are flying long haul it is a good idea to pack some toiletries as you may find that you start feeling a little dehydrated during the flight which can irritate your skin. By packing some moisturiser, make-up wipes, and eye cream in your hand luggage, you can ensure that you arrive in your destination feeling fresh faced and ready for adventure.

Snacks

It is likely that you will get peckish during your flight, so packing some of your favourite snacks into your hand luggage can be a lifesaver when you’re flying at 30,000 feet. Crisps, chocolate, and cereal bars are all great options, and don’t forget to include some sweets to suck on during take-off and landing.
