Formed by a glacier, the lake measures 143 square miles and is as deep as 919 feet in some parts, plus it is extremely clean and clear due to snow from the surrounding mountains draining into it which makes it look even more stunning.

Due to its location, Lake Garda boasts great weather throughout most of the year, and you can expect to see lots of sunshine regardless of when you visit. However, the water will be cold despite the sun in the winter months, so don’t be tempted to go swimming unless you are very prepared!
You might like to stay in one of many camping spots when you visit Lake Garda as the weather allows for this, and there are plenty of options to choose from.
Lots of activities
No matter what you love doing when you are on holiday you will find an activity that suits you when you visit Lake Garda.
Water based options include swimming, jet skiing, snorkelling, windsurfing, sailing, fishing, or heading out on a boat. Away from the water you could choose to play a round of golf, have a game of tennis, go mountain biking, or simply enjoy a hike around the area while you take in the amazing views.

There was a strong Roman presence around Lake Garda which means that there are lots of remains and castles to explore if you like to discover the history surrounding your chose holiday destination.
You may also be able to spot some ancient engravings which decorate some of the rocks around the lake and offer a glimpse into the past.
