Our First Holiday Together: Discovering Egypt
When we decided to take our first holiday together, Egypt felt like the perfect destination. The ancient history, stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture made it an easy choice. After months of planning, we finally set off on an adventure that we knew would be unforgettable.
Landing in Cairo was surreal. The city buzzed with life, busy streets, colourful markets, and the smell of spices in the air. But nothing could prepare us for our first glimpse of the Pyramids of Giza. Standing in front of the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx, we were completely awestruck. It’s one thing to see them in pictures, but experiencing them in person was a whole different story. We both felt like we were stepping back in time, surrounded by so much history.
Next, we headed to Luxor, where we explored the ancient Karnak Temple and took an early morning hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings. The sunrise over the desert was breathtaking, with the ruins below us looking like something out of a dream. One of the highlights was walking through the pharaohs’ tombs, every wall was covered in intricate hieroglyphics that seemed to tell a thousand stories.
Of course, we made sure to try the local food. Fresh pita, shawarma, and sweet baklava were amazing, but koshari quickly became a favourite for both of us.
As we sat by the Nile on our last day, we couldn’t stop talking about everything we’d experienced. Egypt was more than just a destination, it was the perfect way to begin our journey together.
