The prettiest beaches in Greece
Greece is a country loved for its great weather, delicious food, and friendly locals, but it is also home to a number of beautiful beaches that you will never forget.
Here we share some of the prettiest beaches in Greece and the reasons why you should visit them during your next holiday.
Balos – Crete
With warm, shallow water, soft sand, and a naturally beautiful location, Balos beach is one of the prettiest, and most photographed, beaches in Crete. Described by many locals as being like a lagoon, the bright blue water is sure to invite you in on hot days.
The easiest way to reach Balos beach is by getting on a day cruise from Kissamos, or you can drive from Chania. However, the road to the beach is very rocky so it isn’t really suitable for hire cars. Alternatively, you can choose to trek for three hours which will allow you to see the wonderful surrounding scenery.
Navagio – Zakynthos
Boasting white sand and strikingly blue sea, Navagio beach in Zakynthos is home to a shipwreck which was stranded around the 1980s, which makes it a very popular place to visit.
You can get a boat to Navagio, or opt to get there by quad bike, car, or motorbike. However, if you would rather just take a look at the shipwreck from above on one of the towering limestone cliffs, you won’t have to make your way down to sea level.
Antisamos - Kefalonia
Antisamos beach found fame when it was used as one of the filming locations during Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, and can be found opposite the island of Ithaca by the Avgo mountain, which makes its setting very dramatic.
Easily accessible by car, this beachhas pebbles rather than sand, and offers watersports, bars, and a quiet section, making it ideal for everyone who might like to play, swim, or sunbathe.
