Things to do in Singapore

Located just off of the south of Malaysia, Singapore is a vibrant and diverse city which offers its guests plenty of opportunities for adventure. Here, we share some of our favourite things to do in Singapore, and hope they inspire you to take a trip there yourself.

Walk along the Marine Bay Waterfront Promenade

The 3.5km long Marine Bay Waterfront Promenade will take you past a number of great sights, and offers amazing views of the bay and beyond. Cool down as you wander with help from mist sprays and breeze shelters, and enjoy the promenade’s surrounding blend of modern skyscrapers and mesmerising natural beauty. One of the highlights of the Marine Bay Waterfront Promenade is its nightly light show. The show consists of lasers and water projections set to orchestral music, and is said to be the largest show of its kind in Southeast Asia.

Take a ride on a bumboat

One of the quickest and cheapest ways to see the sights of downtown Singapore is a board a bumboat. These small boats act as water taxis, and are perfect for tours, plus they often have eyes painted onto them so that they can spot oncoming danger! There are two bumboat companies in operation, Singapore River Cruises and Singapore River Explorer, and both offer the chance to sit out on deck as you watch the city’s landmarks, such as the 8.6m tall Merlion statue and impressive Marine Bay Sands complex, pass by. These boats also offer the perfect place to watch a sunset from should you want to add some romance to your trip.

See Singapore’s wonderful Chinatown

Step into Singapore’s Chinatown and you’ll be met with a unique combination of tradition, culture, heritage and contemporary elements. Wander through the narrow alleyways, barter in the street market, and try out some of the fantastic restaurants and bars that are located here. Discover temples, shophouses, stores, and teahouses, and take time to explore some of the museums, including the fascinating Chinatown Heritage Centre.
