Lapland - A Winter Wonderland
Lapland in December is a true winter wonderland, and our visit was nothing short of magical. Nestled in the Arctic Circle, this northern region of Finland transformed our holiday into an unforgettable adventure.
Our journey began with a flight into Rovaniemi, the official hometown of Santa Claus. As soon as we stepped off the plane, the air was crisp and filled with the promise of snow-laden adventures. Our first stop was the Santa Claus Village, where we crossed the Arctic Circle and met Santa himself. Our young daughter, Emily, was awestruck as she handed Santa her carefully written letter.
Next on our itinerary was a husky safari. Wrapped up in warm winter gear, we were whisked across frozen landscapes by a team of eager huskies. The experience was very exciting and left us marveling at the beauty of Lapland’s snow-covered forests.
One of the highlights of our trip was a night spent in a glass igloo under the northern lights. The sky danced with hues of green and pink, leaving us in awe. It was a moment of pure magic, something we’ll cherish forever.
To round off our adventure, we tried snowshoeing and sledding, with Emily giggling uncontrollably as she raced down a hill. The local cuisine we loved, reindeer stew and warm lingonberry juice were unexpected favourites.
Our trip to Lapland was more than a holiday—it was a journey into a storybook world where dreams and reality blurred. December in Lapland is a place where families can reconnect, explore, and create memories that will warm our hearts for years to come. If you’re looking for a magical winter escape, Lapland is calling.
