Three things to do in Belfast

As the capital of Northern Ireland, Belfast is a diverse and fascinating city with plenty to offer its visitors. Whether you want to learn about the city’s history, spend time in some of its great bars and restaurants, or admire some of its stunning architecture, you’re guaranteed to find plenty to do during a trip here.

Here, we share three things to do in Belfast that offer a varied and fun-packed break.

Visit the Titanic Quarter

Belfast is well-known for being the birthplace of the Titanic, and the city has a fantastic museum dedicated to this famous ship. Learn all about the ship and uncover the truth about the myths and legends that surround it, find enjoyment in exploring the interactive displays, and see the shipyard where it was created. Here, you’ll also be able to visit the Titanic’s original tender ship – the SS Nomadic – and walk along its decks whilst learning about 100 fascinating years of maritime history.

See the Big Fish

The Big Fish is a 10m long salmon sculpture which sits beside the River Langan. Created by artist John Kindness, the fish is covered with blue tiles which each tell part of Belfast’s story. The sculpture was commissioned to celebrate the regeneration of the river itself, and to mark how important its role is. To the side of the Big Fish you’ll be delighted to find three sea lion sculptures rising from the ground. These were created to represent the sea lions which visit the spot where the River Langan meets the Irish Sea.

Explore the Cathedral Quarter

If you’re looking for great places to eat and drink during your holiday in Belfast, the Cathedral Quarter is the place for you. Jam-packed full of independent bars and restaurants, you’ll also find a number of beer gardens to enjoy if you visit during the warmer months. Taking a trip to Belfast in the winter? This is also the best quarter for finding a deliciously warming Irish coffee!

These three things to do in Belfast are just the beginning, so booking a break here is a must if you’re looking for lots of fun and adventure!
